Expert Sports Physical Therapy in Raleigh, NC

Move without compensation and pain. Get back to doing what you love with personalized treatment from the same expert PT every session.

Traditional Physical Therapy Isn't Working for Athletes

You deserve better than rushed appointments and cookie-cutter treatment plans that don’t address your goals.

Passed Off to Aides

You get a few minutes with a therapist, then spend most of your session with an aide following a generic exercise sheet.

Symptoms, Not Solutions

Your pain keeps coming back because the root cause of dysfunction and compensation patterns is never addressed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn more about our approach to sports physical therapy and what to expect.

What makes Smart Athlete different from traditional physical therapy?

Unlike traditional PT clinics, you’ll work with the same highly trained physical therapist for your entire session—not passed off to an aide. We spend real time with hands-on manual therapy, and your treatment plan is based on what you need to reach your goals, not dictated by insurance reimbursement limits. We treat the source of dysfunction, not just symptoms, using the same proven techniques trusted by professional athletes.

Do you accept insurance?

Smart Athlete operates as a cash-based practice, which allows us to provide longer, more personalized treatment sessions without insurance restrictions. This means your care is driven by your goals and needs, not by what insurance will reimburse. We can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Contact us to discuss pricing and payment options.

What should I expect at my first visit?

Your first visit includes a comprehensive musculoskeletal evaluation and functional movement assessment. We’ll take time to understand your injury history, goals, and lifestyle. Your therapist will identify the root cause of your pain or dysfunction and create a personalized treatment plan. Most first visits last 60-90 minutes and include hands-on treatment. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of what’s causing your issue and how we’ll address it.

How long are treatment sessions?

Treatment sessions are typically 60 minutes of one-on-one time with your physical therapist. You’ll receive hands-on manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and advanced treatments like dry needling or laser therapy as needed—all with the same expert PT every visit. We don’t use aides or pass you off mid-session.

Who do you treat?

We treat athletes of all levels—from professional and competitive athletes to weekend warriors, recreational runners, CrossFit enthusiasts, tennis players, triathletes, and active adults. We also work with prenatal and postpartum clients, youth athletes, individuals recovering from surgery, and older adults looking to maintain an active lifestyle. If you’re dealing with pain, sports injuries, or want to optimize performance, we can help.
